Sally & Martin

Sally & Martin

Like destiny I met Sally and Martin through one of my other loves that involves a great deal of focus, playing 8-ball pool, so we instantly got on well!
It was a mild day considering it was January, which was a blessing to everyone involved as we didn’t have to don coats, scarves and winter hats to keep warm!

The atmosphere at the preparations at Sally’s parent’s house was really chilled, the champagne was flowing and everyone was enjoying the pampering of having their hair done and getting their make-up sorted.

Sally & Martin couldn’t have looked more naturally made for each other as they tied the knot and read each other their vows, a real pleasure to see!

After the ceremony, we gathered for a few formals and some confetti and then made our way to The Nottinghamshire for drinks and a drive around the golf course in buggies and stopped to get some gorgeous late afternoon winter sunset photos of Sally and Martin around the golf course and then I hung on for dear life as I was driven back to the reception by a very willing Colin McCrae impersonator who had previously been happily doubling up as my lighting assistant for the shoot (You’ve gotta love these golf pro types, they really are up for anything)!

We finished the day off with some very nice speeches, a really nice quote from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin (My favourite quote so far) which I will leave you with below, then a fantastic first dance from the newly wed Mr & Mrs Elks and the rest is history in the writing.

Love is a temporary madness,
It erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.
And when it subsides you have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together
That it is inconceivable that you should ever part.

Because this is what love is.

Love is not breathlessness,
it is not excitement,
It is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion.

That is just being in love,
Which any fool can do.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away,
And this is both an art and a fortunate accident.

Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground,
And, when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches,
They find that they are one tree and not two.
